About the Role
Join Smiggle in a Brand New Role – QA & Ethical Sourcing Specialist!
We’re looking for a passionate and driven individual to lead Smiggle’s existing Ethical Sourcing and Sustainability program. Reporting to the Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager and working closely with the QA and Product Teams, you’ll drive continuous improvement to ensure alignment with global best practices, while maintaining high standards of product quality alongside the QA team through a strong focus on factory performance, ethical compliance, product development, quality assessments and reviewing customer feedback.
What you’ll be doing
- Oversee the Ethical Sourcing program, including data management and reporting aligned with Premier Retail’s Modern Slavery compliance requirements
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers and manufacturing partners, ensuring adherence to ethical, quality, and compliance standards
- Collaborate closely with internal sourcing teams, external agents, suppliers, and quality assurance professionals based in China
- Identify and source sustainable raw materials and packaging across both softline and hardline product categories
- Engage with local and international sustainability organizations, NGOs, and licensors to support ethical and sustainable practices
- Conduct initial assessments of new product concepts and samples during the product development phase
About You
- 3+ years’ experience in Ethical Sourcing, Sustainability, or ESG-related roles, ideally within a complex, fast-paced environment
- Deep understanding of relevant legislation and frameworks, including the Modern Slavery Act, ACCC sustainability guidelines, APCO, ASRS, and a strong interest in evolving global ESG regulations and reporting standards
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships across Asia, with cultural awareness and the ability to navigate regional nuances effectively
- Track record of successful collaboration with NGOs, including involvement in sustainability or human rights-focused campaigns
- Experience working with global licensors and responding to their Ethical Sourcing and Sustainability requirements is highly desirable
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Rights, Law, Sustainability, Environmental Science, International Relations, or Social Sciences preferred; equivalent practical experience in the Ethical Sourcing and Sustainability field will also be considered
